With Américaines Solitudes, Jean-Luc Bertini crosses the United States and questions the place of humans caught in this immense setting. He invents what Gilles Mora calls in his postscript “a poetics of isolation”. It is a question of a fair balance between the contemporary photographer vis-a-vis America and this humanist touch inherited from the French tradition, which allows him to skilfully bypass the “American photographic picture”.
