The landscapes in Blackwater are photographed in the Viskan valley in Västergötland, Sweden, between the years 2011-2021. They form small remnants of a wetland landscape that disappeared in connection with the lowering of the lakes at the end of the 19th century. But during spring and autumn, these marshlands are reborn in connection with floods. The environments have almost the character of small rooms where an intricate and almost chaotic spawn of branches and trunks only lets in the sunlight in patches. Mostly it is a land of shadows, without view or transparency, where the black water rarely or never reflects the sky.
