In 1937, Alfred Ehrhardt published Das Watt, mudflats in English. His photographs show the area left by the North sea at low tide with its complex outline of folds and furrows on the sand creating abstract variations. These landscapes are restituted by the lens of the photographer with an austere beauty. Today, the mysterious power of these images remains, evoking the geology of remote planets such as Mars. This book is a facsimile of the edition published in 1937 with its original layout conceived by Ehrhardt inspired by the Bauhaus style.
